On the back of their stifling defense, the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Buffalo Bills on Wildcard Weekend to setup a showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend. Blake Bortles ran for 88 yards (while throwing for only 87 yards), and the Jaguars held the Bills out of the end zone. The Steelers had a first-round bye, allowing Antonio Brown an extra week to heal from his scary calf injury sustained in Week 15.

These two teams met back in Week 5, and thanks to Ben Roethlisberger throwing five interceptions (including two pick-sixes), the Jaguars won 30-9. However, it wasn’t all bad for the Steelers in that game.

Pittsburgh actually had a 9-7 lead midway through the third quarter, the defense held Bortles to 95 yards passing, and Brown torched the Jaguars secondary for 10 catches and 157 yards. The Steelers also were a healthy 7-of-15 on third down, and even though Leonard Fournette ran for 181 yards, 90 of those yards came on a garbage-time touchdown run.

Both offensive lines are in the top-five in pass protection efficiency, yet both defenses can get after the quarterback. Bortles really struggled last week against the Bills, and if the Jags want to pull an upset, he’s going to have to make more plays with his arm. It’s highly unlikely Roethlisberger throws five interceptions in this game, so the Jaguars offense is going to have to generate some points.

A huge battle in this game will be in the red zone. The Jaguars rank second overall in both offensive and defensive red zone efficiency, while the Steelers rank in the bottom-third of the league on both sides of the ball. If the Jaguars score touchdowns while limiting the Steelers to field goals, that’ll go a long way in determining the winner of this game.
